Help with advice on accommdations in Budapest, Cesky Krumlov and Prague

We are visiting these three locations for the first time. On all three we are following Rick's DVD recommendations as they look great but would like ready feed back as follows:
Budapest: The Art Hotel looks great but a bit pricy. We're booked and will stay put, would just like first-hand confirmation.
Cesky Krumlov: We like both the CastleView Apartments (who wouldn't by the pix!) but also find the Pension Olsakovsky charming at half the price - has anyone got an opinion?
Prague: The Hotel Julien looks great and the people seem great. Just want to make sure no one thought it was too far out of the main action.

In Budapest we stayed at the Matyas and asked and received a room with a view of the Danube and the Castle. Very convenient, essentially on the Vaci Utca and good price. In CK we stayed with Peter Saxon at the Penzion Onyx. Newly remodeled and very reasonably priced. Located between the train station and village center. in Prague we found the the Roma Hotel was very nice with a good location.

We visited Cesky Krumlov in 2007 and the Castle View Apartments were just wonderful. They offered a full breakfast at a hotel across the street and the accommodations were charming including a welcome basket of fruit and goodies. Also a great location.

In Budapest I really recommend the Hotel Victoria, Bem rakpart 11, Budapest 1, tel. 1/457-8080, www.victoria.hu. The rooms are beautiful and you have the most fabulous view of the Chain Bridge and Parliment at night. I think we stayed in room 83 -- you want one that ends in 3 for the best views! We recommended this to friends and they were thrilled with their stay.
In Prague we stayed at U Tri Bubnu. Really liked the location and hotel was fine.
Enjoy! I really recommend Castle View and Victoria!

We stayed at the Downtown Oasis (http://www.downtownoasis.net/)in Budapest, right across from the old synagogue and Jewish district. It was wonderful, even though it's billed as a hostel. In Prague, we stayed at the Castle Steps Apartments (http://www.castlesteps.com/)in Mala Strana; I'd highly recommend that hotel, as well. This was my third time in Praha and I'll never stay anywhere else again.

Not exactly "local," you might consider checking the Marriott in Budapest, which is on the promenade of Inner Pest. I only suggest it because we just stayed there last week. For $180 a night, we had a top floor room with a stunning view of Castle Hill, breakfast, access to the Executive Lounge (water, soda, snacks all day plus newspapers and computer access), evening reception (which was enough food for dinner and came with a hosted bar from 5-9:30), and the location was perfect. All we had to pay for was lunch. I went with my mom so having the two beds was key and many of the hotels have the beds rammed right into each other. We felt like we got a 5 star experience for a 2 star price and the hotel was really nice.

We stayed at CastleView Apartments last Sept2008. We planned to stay only 4 nights but it turned into 17 nights since I broke my leg in the city and was hospitilized there ...so my husband and daughter spent there entire stay in CastleView Apartments while I was in hospital. We all highly recommend it, would not consider any other place, absolutely the most accomendating host, spotless, convenient, reasonable and just lovely! We took lots of pictures of the rooms, let me know if you want me to email you.
We were to stay at Lida Guesthouse in Prague last year, but had to cancel due to accident, however, we did have Jan from the Lida Guesthouse drive us to Cesky Krumlov when we arrived at airport in Prague. What a nice man. It was well worth contacting them to drive you. Check our their website. They also transported my daughter from airport to Castleview a few days after my fall when she flew over to be with us. It was like a personal guide all during the drive about 2 hours. Very interesting, friendly and informative ...highly recommend!
This September we are going to Hungary and are staying at Bellevue B&B in Budapest and are looking forward to it. We were supposed to stay there last year but had to cancel. Judit, the host, has been so nice to deal with and remembered me breaking my leg last year when I wrote to her for our reservation this year, it was like conversing with a dear friend. B&B's add alot of personality and local culture to your stays.

Hi, Patti. I am a single, almost 60-yr-old female traveler attracted to the former Soviet bloc countries. I stayed at Guesthouse Lido in Prague in 2008. Everything folks say about Jan and his hospitality are true. Lido is a tram or metro ride to the city center. In CK I stayed at Pension Olsadovsky and was charmed by the ambience and the breakfast could have fed three people. Yet, there was basically no contact with the host except on check-in. If you don't need the comaraderie afforded by sharing breakfast with other guests, then this is just fine. I was in Budapest a few months ago and stayed at Bellevue B&B and would definitely stay again. Judit and her husband are truly the best hosts. It is on a steep hill. You must be fit to walk to and from the metro stop.
