My husband and I are planning a fall trip to Greece...likely late Sept/early October...for a 2week stay. We are planning on flying in/out of Athens (spending no more than 3days there), at least 1 or 2 days in Rhodes, and the remainder of our time lounging on a beach on Mykonos. I was hoping to find help/suggestions for hotels for these three spots....mostly Mykonos, though, as this is where we'll be the majority of our time. We are young and active...but would like to find something relatively inexpensive (with our own bathroom) that is still close to the water...this is a trip for lounging and soaking in the local sights and sounds more than cramming alot of travel between islands. thanks for any and all help!!!!
on rhodes the cava d'oro is a charming place to stay. it is in the old town and reasonable price. i would recommend 2 days there. one for old town and one to visit lindos acropolis. we hired a driver for a day tour for our group and it was great. in athens we stayed at the acropolis museum hotel which is just a short walk from the plaka and acropolis. cant recommend for mykonos because we stayed on a yacht but a beautiful restaurant is the Pelican. the roof is covered with hanging flowers. do take a day trip to see delos while you are on mykonos.
See the hotel below. This is a really nice hotel that is surprisingly affordable. It is a right on a beach and there is a bus that will take you to Mykonos central for shops etc. There is a beach right in front of the hotel (swimsuit required). This location is great because you can go to Paradise(clothing optional) and Super Paradise(clothing optional) beaches via the little Ferry boat that is right out front at the dock. These beaches turn into a nightclub at night... I would return here in a heartbeat. The center of Mykonos is not great if you plan on being near the beaches, so given your young age and active lifestyle I think this is the place for you.

I need to also suggest that you do the day trip to Delos. You catch the boat from the main harbor in Mykonos. It is an unforgettable ancient site.... huge and unforgettable. I liked it as much as Delphi. Get there as early as possible because everyone has to be off the island at 3 or 3:30. There are really no services to speak of... bring water and enjoy hiking all over the ancient streets and enjoy being among the ruins. It's like a much older Pompeii. Restroom at the museum.
Have a great trip.
