I'm looking to stay a couple nights in Plitvice. Can anyone give some testimony on either the hotels, or the bungalows that are so alluringly cheap but unclear how to reserve? (http://www.np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/eng/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=50&Itemid=65)
Also, have you been there in August and is air-conditioning a must?
I stayed at the Hotel Plitvice in July 2004. AC would have been welcome on the coast, but it was cooler at Plitvice. The hotel was fine (especially after several nights in sobes) with satellite TV and a big desk, and a good breakfast buffe.
We are going in August and are staying at the Knezevic Guest House http://knezevic.hr/home_uk.htm
[email protected] It was recommended in the Rick Steves book and was much more affordable for a group of 4. Good luck!
I agree with Kathy. We were at Hotel Plitvice July 2010 and it was great.
We have stayed at the Knezevic Guest House in July 2007 where we also opted to have dinner and breakfast. My journal notes say that it was roomy, clean, new (3 years old then) and very quiet. It was cooler at night so we didn't need air conditioning like in Dubrovnik and Split. We were about a 5 min. drive from the south entrance to the Lakes.
in sept 2009 we stayed at House Samardzic. it was lovely, run by a woman whose family had owned it for generations.
we were welcomed with fruit and drinks at check in, the rooms were very clean and pretty and the breakfast was nice.
