My husband and I are planning a trip to Croatia and Slovenia this May. At the beginning of our planning, I stumbled across a website for a travel agency by the name of Kompas in Bled. The agency can arrange for a room in a private accommodation for prices within our budget. I was wondering if anyone had experience with Kompas in any respect. I searched the archives and did not even find it mentioned. It is mentioned in the RS book briefly, but thought I would ask to see if anyone could expand a bit. It seems like exactly what we're looking for, but the website's quality leaves me questioning a bit. What a lousy thing to judge something on, I know. . .
I have no experience with that company. We had good luck and good prices just driving up to a house labeled sobe/guesthouse the day we arrived. I think we paid $30 per night for our own room and bathroom only a couple blocks from the Grand Toplice Hotel. If you are planning on staying in sobes in Croatia like RS recommends, then stick with that for Bled too.
Having traveled throughout Slovenia this past October and stayed on the edge of Bled, you can easily find accomodations if you have a car. I paid 50 euro for a large 3 room apt. There are many sobe or zimmer frei around to check out. But if you have a car, stay over on the east side of Lake Bohinij. There are a plethora of sobe to choose from and reasonable. And a lot more quiet and beautiful. Kompass is a well known and I believe reliable travel agency. Bohinij is only 17 miles from Bled with a fraction of the development.
