Half-Day Tour of Santorini?

Hello-Does anyone know of a good half-day tour of Santorini? We will not be renting a car but would still like to see the island. We do better on smaller tours such as a van rather than a big bus. Thanks in advance for you recommendations! China

Jean, on June 2 there will be at least one other ship's passengers trying to get ashore at Santorini, and those who have signed up for the ship's land excursion will get first priority for the tenders. In case you didn't know this, and since you've opted for a private tour, your time ashore will be affected by this and it will take at least an hour in each direction to get on/off the ship and up/down the cable car to the dock where the tenders are located. To be on the "safe side" subtract 2.5-3 hours from the time they tell you that you are allotted ashore. This will let you know just how much of a tour you will have time for.

thanks lee, i do know that there will be an hour to get off boat and up cable car. We have suite perks, allowing us priority tender, I am not sure if the cruise excursion goes off before us or what, but we will still be off relatively early. The boat is supposed to dock at 7a.m. so I thought I would look to meet tour guide at 9a.m. and go till 2p.m. want to go to fira, oia, scenic views, lunch red or black beach (just to see), and wine tour. Hope I can find a good tour guide, we are not shoppers, just want to see the sites, so I hope that we can squeeze all this in for a 5hr tour.

we will spend 7 AM - 5 PM in Santorini on a RCCL cruise this summer. China and Lee, how did the tours work out? When were you able to get off the ship and where did you meet your tour guide? We are a group of 3. We hoped to go to Oia (Ia) and to Akitori (if the ruins are open). What were the highlights of your trip and what do you recommend?
Thank you for the information.

Thanks, Lee, for the information. I am sorry that I cannot see the ruins. What do you recommend seeing in Santorini? I do not plan to spend much time shopping. I was told to watch the sunset at Oia (Ia), but we will be back on the ship by then.

If you like hiking you can go see the ruins above Kamari Beach at Ancient Thera. Also take a look at the Museum of Prehistoric Thera and the Akroriri Wall Painting exhibit at the Nomikos Conference Center, both in Fira. The NCC isn't far from the cable car house at the top of the cliff.

We saw jeeps to rent if that interests you. But streets are very narrow.
We just enjoyed walking around and checking out the views from way up top.
