We just added our kids to our first trip to Greece, ages 10 and 13. boy/girl. They are easy going and good experienced travelers, but obviously we won't be doing the late night party thing. Nature, beaches, history, activities are all great; other kids. Any ideas for best two-three islands and any mainland spots. We are locked into Rhodes for one week and have another 12 days in/out from Athens to explore. thanks
You might want to look at Crete. You could plan a hike for Samara Gorge. Knossos is interesting too, and of course there are beaches! They might find Santorini interesting because of the stories and you hike the volcano and again there are beaches. ; ) Pam
I second Crete and the Samaria Gorge! You can ferry from Heralkion to Santorini and visit Akrotiri too.
Near Santorini on the same ferry that comes from Crete is Paros, a great island for families. Another one close to Santorini is Naxos. Excellent beaches and villages.
So....Athens, Naxos, Santorini, Paros, Crete, Rhodes (one week time share, Athens in a total of 19 days. Should I choose between Paros and Naxos, and keep the rest? I was thinking 1 night Athens, 2 nights for a visit mainland history, 3 nights Naxos, 2 nights Santorini, 7 nights Rhhodes, 3 nights something else, 1 night Athens, Home. Could change something to Paros, Crete or any other good idea. I will do some research your your good ideas and listen to more.
Thank you so much. Chris
I'm going to Greece the end of August for about 16 days, we decided on Mykonos, Santorini, Crete (staying in Hania and Heraklion), and a couple days in Athens.
Things are changing due to some great responses and information on the R/S site and others.
We are now going longer: 8 days from Athens to Rhondes, via Santorini?, Naxos?, ??, 7 days Rhondes, 7 days Turkey via Ephesus, Istanbul.
