I am planning a cruise to Greece. It's part of a larger trip and I found a short cruise that is perfect. It starts in Athens then Mykonos, Kusadasi, Patmos, Crete, and Santorini. It is on the Aquamarine Cruise Ship with Louis Cruises. Does anyone know anything about this cruise line or maybe be able to suggest another cruise line that is good for these islands. Thanks for the help.
Louis Lines is the company responsible for the sinking of the Sea Diamond in April of 2007 then subsequently refused to take responsibility for the cleanup and removal of leaking fuel.
I can highly recommend the Silversea Cruise from Athens-Istanbul (with stops in Mykonos, Santorini (don't miss Oia there), Rhodes and Ephasus (be sure to see the Terrace Houses in historic Ephasus). Their sailing itineraries vary, and I believe they also have one that stops in Crete. Silversea is not normally inexpensive, but if you book early you can get a 60% off with free air from gateway cities. With that special, we found it in line with the mass market cruise ships price-wise, but a much nicer experience. We stayed in a Vista suite (least expensive) and it was lovely -- the only difference is no balcony. I would avoid the first two rooms on the front of the ship, though, because of noise. Everything is included with Silversea except shore excursions. The meals are first class, all adult beverages are included, and they also included (at no charge) a special Silversea Experience, which was an evening (under the stars/full moon) private classical concert at the Odean (sp?) outdoor ancient theater in Ephesus (a memory that will last a lifetime for us). If they have the 60%, plus free air when you plan to travel, you might find this a worthwhile option. Ships are small/less than 300 guests. Elegant, but very comfortably so -- not the least bit snooty.
Not many people interested in cruising on this site. Suggest you take your question to cruisecritic.com You could also do these island on your own using the ferry system.
