greek island

we are going to Italy for 2 weeks in July 2012, at the end of the last week we would like to do a long weekend in one of the greek islands for relaxing before going home. We are interested in beautiful beaches and scenic views. We know that greece alone can be a two week vacation, but would love to wind down with one ilsland adventure what would you recomand and how and were should we leave from italy to. Our last day we will be in Florance area thank

I think you would need to specify where in Italy you would be and whether you want to fly to Greece or go by sea. Roger

Sign up for the Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air email newsletters and you'll be notified when they release their saver fares for your travel dates. Look for them around Feb. or March. These flights will be for Rome, Milan or Venice to Athens and will cost as little as €69, all taxes included. I think EasyJet also flies between Rome and Athens. If it's not Rome it's another Italian Airport. There's no flights from Florence.

When you're researching flights, look for flights directly between an Italian city and a Greek island (i.e. Milan and Santorini). I don't know how much "winding down" you could do on Santorini in July, but it is a spectacur island. If you're just looking for an island adventure, have you thought about the little islands off the west coast of Italy? Sardinia or Elba? Much closer. I have no idea how crowded they are in July.
