I have been searching for Greek cruises in the spring 2011 and are limited because most don't start until Summer. I found one that has the perfect dates and itinerary, but it is a Louis Cruise and I am skeptical. My travel agent won't even book it for me. I understand it is basic. But any thoughts or experiences that might help me make my decision.
A travel agent not booking it for you probably only means they don't pay the travel agent a commission. I don't know the cruise line but you can check it out on cruisecritic.com. You will get better advice there than on this site. Cruises come up only occasionally on this site but are the only topic on cruisecritic.
The reason that most do not start till summer is because the island do not start waking up till mid May. So what are your actual dates?
Elaine, we took the 4 day Aegean cruise with Louis out of Pireaus in late April of 2009 and it was very nice. Like any cruise you spend more time on board the ship than in the ports of call, but the ship (the Aquamarine) was very comfortable, the food was good and the crew were great. We aren't big on cruises as a rule, but this one was quite good.
Island life as it pertains to the tourist infrastructure begins mid-April, not mid-May. By mid-May things are in full swing, peaking by mid-August.
