i cannot find anything under $1000 without crazy transfers. is the new price to europe really $1000. i have paid about 600 for the past ten years. can anyone offer a great rate seattle to athens? help> thank you in advance. jeff
Try www.momondo.com. It searches over 800 travel sites for you. It is a search-only website - you can't book tickets through them. Use it to find your best price & itinerary and then book directly with the airlines.
But to answer your question, I think the new price is $1000. Airline capacities are down by design, oil is up, the dollar is down which means landing fees, resupplies, etc. are more expensive, and demand is up with a recovering economy. You might sneak into the $900 range but good schedules are going to be a 1000 plus.
Consider yourself lucky. I can't find anything from Portland, OR for less than $1250, and the layovers are way too long.
