Anyone stay in Vouliagmeni? Is the trip by car any serious adventure? Is car rental a good idea? Islands to see and ferry travel first week of October any problems? Any help appreciated. Thanks

Nancy, since Vouliagmeni is only about 20 km from either the airport or the center of Athens and about the same to Piraeus, a short bus or taxi ride will be your best option. Based on the information in your post you won't need a car.
