We are going to rent a sailboat in the Greek Islands next September. After that we want to go see another country for a week. 1st choice was Croatia but the posts I have read sound like it is difficult to get there from Greece. Would Puglia region of Italy be a good choice or Sicily? We are looking for a relaxing vacation not one where you are visiting sites every day. Sicily is more appealing to us but it looks difficult to get to from Greece also.
The difficulty is that there is no direct connection. It looks like it should be easy, Italy and Croatia are very close, just that the connections are time consuming. If you don't mind spending about two travel days getting to Croatia, go for it. Sicily, as you mentioned would be about the same, a little less since you are not relying on an overnight ferry. Puglia may be agood option, often overlooked by American travellers.
