Greece or Croatia for 8 days in Mid July?

My husband and I are taking a 8 day vacation and we are wondering if we should visit Greece or Croatia for these 8 days? 8 days excludes travel time. If we did Greece say for instance we would spend 2 days in Athens and 6 days in another island probably Santorini. The idea is to totally unwind and chill and not island hop. Any suggestions for either Greece or Croatia are welcome.

These are my two favorite places. Both will be hot and fairly crowded in mid-July but well worth a visit. If you choose Greece, I'd recommend that you fly directly to your island (Santorini) upon arrival in Athens. As spectacular as it is, I think 6 days might be a bit much for Santorini, and would be fairly expensive as well. I'd spend 3 nights there, then three nights on another island on the ferry route back to Athens (Naxos, Paros), then 2 nights in Athens. If you choose Croatia, one option would be to fly to Dubrovnik. Spend a couple of nights there, then go to Korcula island for 3 nights, and then spend your final 3 nights in Cavtat, a beautiful little fishing village just outside Dubrovnik, near the airport. From Dubrovnik and/or Cavtat, you can take a day trip into beautiful Montenegro. Or you could fly to Split, spend the night, then ferry to the tiny island of Vis for 3 nights, then back to Split for a bus ride to Dubrovnik or Cavtat, spend 4 nights and fly home from there. There are many, many other options. You might want to do a little research on these and see what looks most appealing.
