Greece in June--Milos, Nafplio

Hello, My niece and I are going to be in Greece for 10 day in early June. We are planning to spend 2 days in Athens, 3-4 in Nafplio, and would also like to see Milos and perhaps one other island (Santorini? Sifnos?). I have 3 questions: 1. Is there a way to get from Milos to Nafplio without going all the way back up to Piraeus? 2. Keeping in mind: we love hiking, we want to experience the blue/white Cycladic architecture, and proximity to Milos, is there a second island you'd recommend? They all look amazing to me--hard to decide!!! 3. I know that the sooner we book flights, the less expensive they'll be. But I've also heard that airline prices sometimes drop in January. Any words of wisdom? Thank you so much!!!

Bethany Nafplio and Sifnos are both great choices. We've done both in the last couple of years and have written up our impressions http://www.greekramblings.org.uk/Nafplio%20overview.html http://www.greekramblings.org.uk/Sifnos.html Unfortunately there is no way of getting down to the islands from Nafplio without going back to Piraeus. It's worth knowing that some of the buses from Nafplio to Athens now stop at the Eleonas metro station on the outskirts of the city. This cuts journey time as you can get a metro direct to Monastiraki (2 stops) and then change for Piraeus rather than sit on the bus as it ploughs through Athens traffic. If you are keen walkers then this site is really good. It has detailed instructions for walks on various islands including Sifnos http://www.cycladen.be/SifnosEng.htm Have a great trip. Alan
