Any suggestions on the best way (route)to get from Los Angeles to Mitilini. We will be staying in Levos, so need to know - do we fly into Athens, then fly to Mitilini and drive to where we will be staying. We are planning on leaving in late July and returning mid August.

You can take a flight to Athens then a long ferry to Lesvos. Don't know about the flight but some islands have that possibility.

Yes, fly into Athens then on to Lesvos. Check the Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air websites for 'saver' fares to Lesvos. Be sure to go to your local AAA office to pick up an International Driving Permit, no test or membership required, for $20 plus a photo fee if you don't bring 2 passport photos with you.
