We are booking a 7 day trip to Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini in April. We're not finding a lot of favorable comments about the hotels in Athens. Any suggestions for places to stay in Athens and the other islands?
If you state your maximum daily room budget in dollars or preferably euros we can then give you some intelligent choices.
We are looking at spending between 100-150 euros.
Kathy, I realize that you didn't ask for opinions about your itinerary, but I thought I would mention this. Travel time between the islands tends to take longer than one thinks. If you have only 7 days, I would suggest going to only one island, maybe taking a day-trip to another island. You can check ferry schedules at www.ferries.gr.

You might like to look at the Hadrian which is in your price range and is fine

I prefer the Attalos
This is cheaper but is slightly outside Plaka, the main tourist area. It has a rooftop bar with great views of the Acropolis though.

Some reasonably-priced hotels in Athens near Syntagma and Monastiraki Squares: Pan, Arethusa, Metropolis, Amazon, Magna Grecia, Plaka, Cecil, Attalos.
Santorini: IN OIA: Aspa Villas, Olympic Villas, Aris Caves, Old Oia Houses, Delfini Hotel, Stelios Rooms, Thea Studios, Filotera Villas, Anemomilos Hotel, Musses Studios. IN FIRA/FIROSTEFANI: Scirocco Apartments, Panorama Studios, Studios Caldera, Hotel Mylos, Hotel Keti, Villa Ilias, Blue Dolphins Apartments.
In Santorini I'd suggest Tzekos Villas in Fira. It's on the edge of the shopping area so away from the tourist noise, INCREDIBLE views from every room and the pool, built right into the cliff, every room is different. But lots of stairs and no elevator, so not good with children or less-able people.
I usually stay the the Hotel Parthenon in Athens. It's a bit generic and not at all fancy but the prices have been decent and the location is fantastic (2 blocks, maybe less, from the Parthenon and a metro stop).
