Hi, I'm Kelly. I'm 23 years old, and I will be going to Prague this summer solo. I am looking to stay in hostels, either close to town or close to the tube. Security is most important to me, because I have some expensive camera equipment, plus personal safety. I've heard great things about Miss Sophies, but I'd like to have some other great references to check out also! I'm going to book ahead of time, so if anyone has any advice for me please reply!
I would highly recommend Sir Toby's, its a little outside of the main area but its in a interesting neighborhood, its just a 10 min tram ride into the main tourist area. The hostel itself is clean and pretty fancy, a big buffet breakfest for about $5 and a great lounge/bar area in the basement. There are some great resturants around full of locals, its next door to a great pizzarea and the people working there are extremely helpful.
I stayed at Old Town Hostel in Prague. I thought it was great. It is small and the people at the front desk were always really nice. Free breakfast (just cereal but its something). Very clean bathrooms etc. Strongly recommend it. About 2 minutes from Old Town Square.
Go to www.tripadvisor.com and look at all of the hostels in Prague:

I really liked the River Bank Hostel. It is owned by the same people who own the Emma Hostel, which is nearby. The only downside to the River Bank is that there is no staff on-site. To check-in just set a time in advance to meet the staff at the hostel, or go to the Emma and someone can walk you over from there.
The River Bank is right on the river (as the name suggests), is a five-minute walk to the metro, and a fifteen-minute walk to the Charles bridge or the old town. The rooms are immense and only have eight beds in them... and they are not bunk-beds!
Even though there were no staff there, the place was very quiet, and an excellent price.
