We'll be in Istanbul for a few days in January. Our flight out to Cairo leaves at 11:30 PM, we have to check out of our hotel in the morning, so, any suggestion for a good day trip outside of Istanbul that day?

How about a day trip to Bursa? You begin with a quick taxi ride to the ferry terminal Yenikapi Feribot terminal. Then a fast ferry to Yalova--it takes a bit under an hour and a half. Once you arrive there, there are busses to the center of Bursa. It'll take about an hour. From the Bursa bus station, catch a taxi to central Bursa. That will take another only a few minutes. Then, check out the Grand Mosque, the Covered Bazaar, the Mirrored Bazaar, and the Koza Caravanserai. From there, if you start early enough, you can take a minibus to Iznik and see the Green Mosque with its stunning tiles and the museum there. It's about an hour between Iznik and Bursa. Then catch a minibus back to Yalova to catch the ferry back to Istanbul. Allow at least an hour for the bus to the ferry, and again, an hour and a half to return to the ferry terminal in Istanbul. Then taxi to Ataturk Airport and off to Cairo!
