Getting to Aegina from Athens

I will be in Athens April 6-8, driving in the 6th and leaving the 8th at noon. I want to visit the island of Aegina to see the temples. Does anyone know if that will be possible? I would like to get to the harbor at Agia Marina. Suggestions? Or should I settle for the Temple of Poseidon?

John No problem about getting to Aegina. Flying Dolphins run very regularly from Piraeus and take around 40 minutes. Timetable here http://www.aegeanflyingdolphins.gr/content/view/15/28/lang,el/ There are more details about Aegina including which gate to use at Piraeus, and how to get there from the metro, here http://www.greeklandscapes.com/greece/aegina/aegina.html Once there you will probably need a taxi to get to the site, although there are regular buses across the island. Cheers

I posted before seeing Lee's message. I'm pretty sure he's (unusually!) wrong in saying that the Dolphins run from the Zea. I don't think anything runs from there any more. Looking at his helpful map I would say that they run from Gate E9 or E10, or at least did when we last did this trip about a year ago. Alan

Thanks for all your help. I want to go to Agia Marina primarily to get to the top of the hill and see the temple there w/o taking time to cross the island from Aegina port. FYI, I love Matt Barrett's site but a bit to find all the info I need. I'll see something I want to remember and then I can't find it again.
