We are flying into Athens. We then plan to island hop down to Crete. What would be the best way to then get to Dubrovnik?

I looked into getting to Dubrovnik from...really anywhere in Greece. It was SO difficult to get to anywhere in Croatia from anywhere in Greece, that we completely changed our plans and are no longer going to Greece.

Next to impossible to do this effeciently. There are budget airline to fly from Crete (Hania) to Athens, and then Athens to Dubrovnik. Otherwise, the only way is a long bus/train/ferry combo. You have to go back to Piraeus port, ferry to Italy (Brindisi or Bari), and then ferry to Dubrovnik. It will take 3 days. It would be the same money to fly or better to rearrange your schedule.
