Getting Ferry tickets at Piraeus

There seems to be several different ferry companies that do the Piraeus to Aegina route, so how do we get tickets when we arrive at Piraeus ? Are all the companies in one spot and we just look at schedules or ...?

You will find more shops and booths selling tickets for the ferries at the port in Piraeus than you can shake a stick at.

There's nothing to choose between them. I've always found them to be totally honest. They can all tell you when the next ferry sails.

Of course they will all tell you that they are the cheapest but that's to be expected, in fact there's no difference.

There is, however, one thing. They all display signs saying they take credit cards and debit cards. The Greeks always prefer cash. Don't be surprised if, when you dig the plastic out of your wallet, they tell you that the credit card machines are not working. Sometimes it's just that they don't want to take credit card payment, sometimes it's absolutely true.

If you know when you are going, you can also hit a Travel Agency in Athens beforehand. As Al said, nearly all agencies are the same rates, even what ferry company you sail with is of little concern, the only real difference is schedule to fit your own and whether it is a slow boat, Cat, or Hydrofoil which dictates travel time.
