I'm taking a Viking River Cruise next May from Amsterdam to Budapest. After a few days in Budapest I need to get back to Amsterdam. I am considering taking German Wings to Koln, then the train to Amsterdam. Has anyone flown German Wings? Do you have a better suggestion-direct flights to AMS from Budapest were really expensive last time I checked.
"Has anyone flown German Wings?" I have. They did what they said they'd do, for the airfare they quoted. But read and follow their rules re carry-ons, baggage, and the time to show up at the counter and gate.
The best budget airline I have used. Roger
Yes, I have flown them. I feel that they're the best of the "cheap" airlines. Much better than Ryanair or Easyjet.
Recently flew GermanWings and had a great experience. But it is a "discount" airline so you have to read the regulations carefully. If you buy a basic ticket, you will be charged extra for any carry on other than a purse. All snacks and drinks on board cost extra. However, they now over an "upgrade" ticket that puts you in seats with more legroom, and provides a carry on (under 8kg I think? Pay attention to size and weight restrictions) and a small snack and beverage. The upgrade ticket was only about 10 euro more I think and was well worth it.
Thanks, Sarah....Have you ever flown Wizz Air? I may take that instead.
