There are several possible routes: The fastest appears to be bus C.K. to Kaplice, train Kaplice-Linz, train Linz- Vienna Hutteldorf, train Vienna Hutteldorf-Vienna Hbf, train Vienna Hbf-Bratislava Petrzalka. It all takes 6 hours 39 minutes and you would be in neighborhood of Petrzalka from which you would have to take city public transport to the center. Or you could take boat from Vienna to Bratislava which would take longer. Another option would be by bus with two changes in Ceske Budejovice and Brno. That would take 6 hours and 50 minutes but would take you tho the center. Or all by train with changes in Ceske Budejovice and Brno and that would take 9 hours 40 minutes. Time table is on: http://www.idos.cz Once you get the site, scroll down and switch to English.

Hi, this seems like a very long and complicated journey. Do you think it is easier if i come back from cesky krumlov to prague and then take a bus to bratislava. at least it wont involve frequenct chnages. Please let me know if this is a feasible idea.

Yes you can go via Prague but it will be longer and probably little bit more complicated than just changing bus in Ceske Budejovice and Brno. Because your bus from Cesky Krumlov will arrive to Prague bus station Na Knizeci and bus to Bratislava leaves from Prague bus station Florenc. The best to get from one bus station to the other one is to take subway. They are six subway stations apart. So to go via Prague you would be actually making even more changes. Or you can go by train and you would be changing in Ceske Budejovice and Prague. But that would take longer than the other option of changing trains in C.B. and Brno and would involve the same amount of changes.

We made this trip a few years ago, and after looking at the options we decided to drive. We left CK after breakfast, went via Linz, and made it to Bratislava by mid-afternoon including stopping to see Melk Abbey and a stop for a fast-food lunch along the way. The drive was mostly motorway and wasn't difficult at all. (We subsequently returned the car in the Czech Republic so we avoided the one-way drop-off fee.)

Cesky Krumlov is a bit tricky because it is (charmingly) sort of remote. Coming back to Prague might get you on more direct (and faster) trains. EuroCity trains go from Prague to Bratislava several times a day and only make 4 or 5 stops inbetween. If you go the other way, you may wind up on local routes that make a lot of stops. Maybe you could come back from CK and spend one more night in Prague before heading to Bratislava? Another note: I'm not sure when you're traveling, but the boat from Vienna to Bratislava doesn't go year-round, so be sure to check. I seem to remember train always being cheaper. If you're looking for good deals, check out Student Agency, a bus service that has very reasonable rates in this part of the world (not just for students). I've never used it, but I've heard rave reviews.

Pur: We did this back in September. Took the early (6:30 AM) bus from Cesky Krumlov to Cesky Bodivice. There's a nice bus station in Bodivice. Took another bus to Brno where we had a nice lunch. Then caught the train to Bratislava. It was cheap and we had the compartment to ourselves. Arrived around 3PM or so. There's a great resterace at across from the Station in Bratislava. Order some cabbage, bread and Pilsner Urquell and you won't be dissapointed.
