I haven't flown into Ljubljana but took a train from Budapest. In looking at www.whichbudget.com it looks like you could fly to Ljubljana from either Brussels (Brussels Airlines) or London Stansted (EasyJet.)

Are you going strait there from the US, Patricia?

I would book your flight in separate legs/purchases. You'll get more options. There are alot fo small airlines that go into Lju that might not be codesahred with the bigger airlines.(If you're in MI - NW to Amsterdam, the Amdam to Lju on Adria, etc).

If you have some time, Lju is a great place to get to by going somewhere else first - it's a lovely place to train or drive through.

Salzburg is a nice drive/train away, Munich is not that much farther. Venice is physically close - but a bit of a pain to go in and out of to Lju unless you drive (which is a -really- great option in that area).

Let us know more details on your trip! Hope that helps!

Best bet for Ljubljana is Adria, Slovenia's airline. Adria is a member of the Star Alliance, so you may be able to book something as part of a flight itinerary with Lufthansa, Continental, United or US Airways. The other option, as previously suggested, is to book tickets to a European city served by Adria and then buy separate tickets for Adria. For peace of mind, I only buy separate tickets when I have at least one night in the "connecting" city to allow for any unanticipated delays.

I flew to Ljubljana from Portland in September '08 and I purchased my tickets through Lufthansa. The second part of the journey (Frankfurt to Ljubljana) was serviced by Adria Airways. We debated other carriers but our open jawed flights by Lufthansa worked best for our schedule.

If you are flying within Europe EasyJet services Lufthansa.

That's great news, Frank! I didn't know Adria had joined the Star Alliance. That being the case, Patricia - forget what I said about booking separately and follow Frank's advice. =)

I'm really glad to hear about this. Have had two experiences with Adria, and both were great! =)

Hey, I made a typo in my comment above. I meant that Easyjet services Ljubljana within Europe (not Lufthansa like I typed in).
