As anyone experienced car ferries between these two countries? We are exploring the idea of flying into Croatia and after our visit there continue our trip into Italy by crossing the adriatic from Dubrovnik.

Are you planning on taking a car? or just yourselves on the ferry? Many rental agencies will have an issue with ferry use, plus you will be crossing over into the EU, setting yourself up for a very expensive drop-off fee if not returning to Croatia. On foot, the ferries are like big buses with more room to move around. You can go cheap and pick deck passage, move up to a reserved seat. look at a dorm style accomodation, or a cabin.
