We will be travelling around the Greek Islands in Oct. We have a rough itinerary but are having difficulty finding a general ferry schedule to help us plan more precisely. Thanks for any help.

Here are the online schedules

You'll find though that October's schedules haven't yet been finalised.

It's easy to get a complete list of "To" islands that are reachable from whichever departure port you highlight in the "From" box.
Thank you both for the info. Apparently the Oct schedule just isn't available yet. Our plan is to start in Athens, then Chios,Samos,Kos,Rhodes, Karpathos, Crete, and Santorini. I guess we will just have to wait a little longer to see the sched....We have been planning this trip since Jan and are very excited about it.
Lee,
Thank you for the link and the info. You were right. I used the calendar and went backwards and lo and behold it gave me a scheduled ferry departure at about noon for Naxos to Mykonos. I was fairly confident that the route would be available...but it is nice to see it confirmed in history.
Be aware that a lot of smaller Greek islands start shutting down their tourist facilities in October. It would be a good idea to check a guidebook or two, plus check ahead of time with the hotels that you're planning on staying at.
Hi Rick,
We have been in contact with hotels/pensions on each of the Islands we wish to see, indeed had even made some reservations which is why we have been trying to get ferry info. We have started to look at different routing now. The great thing about visiting a place for the first time is everything is new! I really did want to see the mastic villages in Chios but may have to do that on another trip. It's always good to miss a few things that you just have to go back again!
Let me second Brenda's request. We too are going to the islands in October, and would like to get an idea of the frequency of the ferry service from various islands...we are flying into Santorini, then by ferry to Naxos, then to Mykonos, and then to Piraeus (Athens). If anyone on the board has had experience with the ferries at that time of the year, please give us your history.
The ferry from Santorini to Naxos, which also stops at Ios and Paros before continuing on to Athens/Piraeus, is a daily ocurrence all year long. Naxos>Mykonos might be more seasonal. You can go to
http://www.openseas.gr/OPENSEAS/index_en.vm and use their calendar function to backtrack to last October to see what was available then. This will give you an idea of what to expect next October, although you'll obviously need to keep checking this and other ferry schedule websites for updates and corrections.
