Ferry from Venice to Croatia

My fiance and I are wanting to go to Croatia for our honeymoon late May/early June 2011 (I know it's a bit early to plan the honeymoon, but it's a bit more fun right now than planning the wedding!). We're thinking of staying a few nights in Venice and then taking a ferry over to Croatia. Anyone attempt this? Suggestions? Any info will be helpful! Thanks!

Ciao Brooke,

It is really cool that American's are coming to Croatia! Venezia lines runs a catamaran(300 seats) that leaves Venice around 5:00 p.m. and goes to Rovinj (where we have owned property since 2004). It stops in Porec briefly and continues on to Rovinj. You can check out schedules at Venezialines.com. Have fun planning your trip.If you need any accomadation help e-mail me at brianrovinj@yahoo.com(I am from Bellevue)

Congrats on your wedding and Croatia couldn't be better for a honeymoon.

We drove from Slovenia (actually started in Budapest) all down the coast and loved every minute. Sorry - don't have more info on the boat system. If you rent a car, just be careful on the twisty mountain roads - the "other" drivers can be crazy.

FYI - we stayed in Trogir instead of Split which was perfect! Small quaint but bustling at night. Felt like a small Medival town. We did Split as a daytrip.

Of course, Dubrovnik is not to be missed. Try to enter the walled city at dusk as the twinkling lights are coming on and all the swallows are swooping across the drawbridge and castle walkway....magical.
