Ferry from Santorini to Kusadasi, Turkey

Flying into Athens and a ferry trip to Santorini for a few days, than off to Turkey for 10 days or so. Finding it very confusing and difficult to see how we can get from the GI across to Kusadasi. If anyone has done this can they help us out?

From Santorini you'll have 2 options: 1-Take the ferry to Kos, then another ferry to Samos, then another to Kusadasi. 2-Take the ferry to Mykonos then another ferry to Samos, then another to Kusadasi. Expect to take at least 2 days for either route, perhaps 3, depending on ferry schedules. All the various company's timetables for April and beyond have not yet been released. http://www.gtp.gr If it's in your budget you'd be better off flying back to Athens for a connecting flight to Samos to save a LOT of time. Overall I don't think the money spent will be that much more than the ferry when you add in the hotel expenses while you're in transit. Both Aegean Air and Olympic Air fly to Santorini and Samos.

Many thanks for that. I think I have cracked a Hellenic Seaways ferry from Santorini at 12ish with a 2hour stop over in Mykonos than on to Samos (Karlovassi) arriving at around 10pm. All good and in one day with overnight fine with us before over to Kusadasi. Except on-line booking is proving a bit tricky so have had to e-mail booking company to clarify - fingers crossed. Since I suggested the routes above it has been brought to my attention that ferry schedules are not yet complete for the summer season beyond the end of June, and nothing is available from Mykonos to Samos anymore. It remains to be seen if it's added back into the mix. If you're on Santorini and you want to go to Samos you have to go to Syros first, not Mykonos, to catch the ferry as it heads to Samos from Athens. But keep checking www.gtp.gr. Summer updates have to be published soon.

Yep have run into a road bump. One travel agent who handles ferry booking tells us there is no no ferry from Mykonos to Samos. Very unhelpful agency and did not suggest Syros so it's back to the drawing board. Thanks for the hint to try Syros (Siros?). Groannnnn! Sue & Barry

I would skip the ferries and just fly back to Athens from Santorini and then on to Samos. It will be two quick flights, less than an hour each. You will land in Samos near the town of Pythagorio, maybe a 30-minute taxi ride to the main town of Vathy. There are some ferries to Kusadasi from Pythagorio, but they're more frequent (twice a day in the summer) from Vathy. Your previous plan, which would have landed you in Karlovasi, would have been an expensive taxi ride to Vathy to catch the ferry to Kusadasi.
