ferry from Samos to Kusadasi

We want to travel from Samos to Kusadasi on Sept 28th on a morning ferry. Due to flights back to NZ, we want to be pretty certain we can travel that date and time. Looking for advice - where to book through, or are we safe to wait and buy tickets once we get to Samos?

Chris, I think you may be safe because there is almost always a day-excursion from Samos to Kusadasi, and if there isn't a regular ferry, you can always take the excursion and just not do the return part. You would have to specify this, and pay the extra Euros for a Turkey entry-fee. There is a travel agency right at the pier at Vathy (samos town), which handles all trips and is VERY knowledgeable. I believe the name is ISTA Travel. Try googling it. There would be no necessity to book tickets on line for any travel to Kusadasi as there will always be enough room.

Are you planning to come to Samos a few days ahead of that, or are you one of those people who plan to come on the ferry that arrives at 5:30 am. ? I would advise coming earlier if possible ... and Samos has charm, it's worth a day or 2 of y our time.

We are spending 4 nights on Samos, with a hire car for some of that, so could certainly arrange it once we get there if that is safe. Finding the right ferry from here has proven hard so far! They say they have morning sailings in September but I can't seem to book them.
Also if we get there and get stuck, possibly we could leave on the evening boat a day earlier - though I had planned to prebook our accommodation on Samos.

I think it's wise to anticipate an afternoon ferry the day before. By the end of September it shouldn't be difficult to find a room at the last minute if you haven't booked ahead.
