Ferry between Italy and Croatia

I'm trying to book a ferry from Bari-Dubrovnik and back Split to Ancona. I'm totally confused/frustrated by the info I have found on the web. Does anyone know what the best way to book these?

For what time period are you trying to book? Ferry companies are notorious for not booking out very far and it is possible that there may not yet be a schedule.

You could try calling the ferry line direct, otherwise, for prebooking, many people go through a travel agent.

Other options are to simply wait until you are in Italy, find a local travel agent and make the arrangments then, or as I do many times, buy tickets when I arrive at the port.

You can book Jadrolinija ferries on their website, www.jadrolinija.hr, or through one of their local agents. The website also has a Contact Us link. The Jadrolinija agents are fluent in english and will respond promptly to your questions.

I booked the Bari-Dubrovnik ferry online throught their Bari agent in 2008 and picked up my ticket at the Bari port office about 3 hours before departure. All went smoothly. There's a nice little cafe near the office where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink while you wait for departure. It was also fun to have a drink at the fantail bar as the ferry was leaving Bari - great views.
