We will be taking RS 13 day Turkey tour starting on May 24. We will have a week left in Europe after the tour. This will be our 8th RS tour so we have seen lots of Europe before. Has anyone taken this Turkey tour and then stayed in Europe after the tour? I was wondering if folks had seen enough of Turkey by then and headed elsewhere, or decided to stay in Turkey for another week. Thanks for any input.

Well, you could always do more in Turkey, for instance spend a day or so more in Istanbul. On the other hand, this may be a golden opportunity to do something different. I would consider a night train to Romania. Bucharest probably only has 1 day worth to see, but Brasov is only 3 hours away and has some great sights nearby. Castles, ancient towns founded by Germans, and many other ideas abound. Check out Wikitravel for some more Romania ideas.
Another idea might be a Greek Island hop? Fly to Athens, spend a day to see the sights, then either fly or ferry to some nearby islands. Paros, Santorini, and Hydra come to mind.

I appreciate Mike's advice - the ferry/Greek islands are a good option - I still haven't heard from anyone who has taken RS Turkey Tour and then spent time in that part of Europe after the tour.

We took R.S.tour in October 2007. Tour ends in Kusadasi. From there we took a ferry to Samos. It's relatively close to Kusadasi. After several hours in Samos we took another ferry to Mykonos and stayed overnight there. Next day in the afternoon we boarded ferry for Santorini where we stayed for several days. Then by ferry to Athens (actually Pireus), stayed 3 or 4 days in Athens and then flew home. We didn't book ahead anything. It was not necessary in late October. Weather was nice and warm however evenings and mornings were already cool. After the tour end we were ready for change and Greece was right there. You can see Samos (Greek Island) from Kusadasi.
