Flying in Venice to tour Croatia 13 days. Last 2 days of tour are in Venice. Bought 2 more days to visit Ljubljana, Croatia but told 6 hrs by train. What other location can we visit by train/bus in Croatia (preferably) or Italy and still get value of visit and enough time to get back to Venice. Thank you!

Helen, It sounds like you're wanting help with sites in Croatia. So far I can't offer anything from personal experience, since we're visiting there our first time this fall. If you have only 2 days in Venice, I wouldn't looked for day trips out from there. That city offers enough to lock you in for 3 days, at least. However, Verona is probably less than 1 hour west by train, so might be worth a thought. You can cover the downtown part in a long 1/2 day, including a Roman coliseum type place and a really neat farmers' market, plus more. Do the research in advance if that sounds good.
As for Croatia, a web site I'm checking often is www.Balkanology.com. The author seems to know his stuff - or at least I'm hoping so.
You probably want to tour Slovenia. Ljubljana is not in Croatia. It is the capital of Slovenia.
If your tour of Croatia does not include the Istria region (in the North), you may want to add that. You can get from Venice to several Istrian towns by ferry I believe
