I have never bought on expedia, but their flights are cheapest for an open-jaw itinerary, into Slovenia and out of Croatia. Any one with experience with on-line flight purchasing? Did you buy travel insurance? Or is it better to go with an agent?
I've used Expedia several times as well as Orbitz. I've never had any problems with the tickets they've booked for me. I tried to buy their travel insurance but there was a computer glitch for that part of the transaction, and when I called them about it they apologized and gave me a $50 credit towards a hotel reservation I was making at that same time, so I of course think they're worth recommending.
Most people book flights online these days; there shouldn't be a problem. Expedia is a reputable company...one of the most popular sites. I would head over to the kayak.com search engine to verify if Expedia's prices are indeed cheapest.
Thanks, I will check kayak. Would you recommend the expedia trip insurance for flights, or is so limited it's not worth it?
You're welcome. I have never bothered to purchase flight insurance. For me it's not worth it. On the other hand, I always purchase medical and evacuation coverage...just in case.
Thanks again. Do you buy that through expedia, or your home insurance agent?
Go to Insuremytrip.com I always buy my insurance independent of a travel site or booking agent.
I don't buy travel insurance (and fortunately never needed it). I have purchased tickets and lodging through Expedia at least a few times and never had reason to regret it. I booked a room last summer with Expedia in Copenhagen. The only reason I remember it was Expedia is I had a problem. I booked a room that included breakfasts. The day before checking out to fly home I lightened my load of all the paperwork I no longer needed (including my room booking). When I checked out, they charged me extra for my breakfasts (which I had already paid for when I booked). Since my paperwork was gone I paid and planned to correct it when I got home. At home, I emailed my booking confirmation to the hotel but got no response so I called Expedia. They put me on hold while they called the hotel directly. Within a couple of minutes, they came back and told me the hotel would credit my account for the amount they had charged me at checkout. The credit came through as promised.
