Going to Sopron this September arriving by train from Pecs (no auto). Have read about Esterhazy Castle would like to get more information about it. Is there a convenient bus from Sopron to the Esterhazy Castle? How long does it take? Where is bus station? Any other sugestions of on sights or nature walks(gentile hikes) while in Sopron would be appreciated. Will use Rick's Budapest guidebook, but would love to hear from some thoughts of the other readers. Thanks!

We stayed in Sopron as a base for 4 days in 2004 but had a car. I would just take a cab to the Esterhazy( it's not that far), there maybe a mini bus, ask at the TI center. It was undergoing a massive renovation when we visited. Sopron is very walkable and photogenic itself, we loved it. Not too far away south of Gyor is the majestic monestary of Pannonhalma we visited. There is a smaller scale train to ride at Nagycenk just east of Sopron. Szombathely south of Sopron was lovely as well, great Roman museum.
