I have been there a few years ago but my cruise ship will stop there this time also. Where can I go that will allow me enough time (5hr) to get there & back to the ship. Are there buses that leave out of Ismir?

If your port is Kusadasi, it is only about 15-20 miles away from Ephesus. I'm pretty sure any cruise ship will have excursions to Ephesus. You could also take a taxi to Ephesus, and when finished, use one of the taxis the entrance/exit to return to Kusadasi. However, are you saying that you need transportation to/from Izmir?

We are also going on a Mediterranean cruise, and I just discovered and ordered Rick's book called "Mediterranean Cruise Ports." It includes Ephesus, as well as many other ports we will be visiting. I hope this is just what you need to have ALL of the information for your cruise ports!

One idea that comes to mind is Sirince Village, a somewhat touristy Greek Village a few miles from Ephesus. You could easily eat lunch and walk around there for a couple of hours. I'm not sure of the travel arrangements to get you there from the port. If you can get to Selcuk, I believe there is an hourly bus to there from Selcuk. Good luck.
