I'm finishing a guided tour of Ephesus on October 25, 2013, and want to spend a few days in Santorini before flying home from Athens on October 30th. What's the best way to get from Ephesus to Santorini, and then from Santorini to Athens (fly or ferry?). What airlines make these trips at this time of year?

With so few days at your disposal the best option would be to fly. Go to Kusadasi, the Turkish port nearest to Ephesus, take the ferry to Samos, then fly from Samos to Santorini, changing planes in Athens. Another route would be from Izmir to Istanbul to Athens to Santorini. This might actually be faster depending on the ferry schedule from Kusadasi to Samos and how it meshes with the flight schedule from Samos to Athens. http://www.feribot.net/feribot/?lang=en It won't matter where in Turkey you begin a flight, you will still have to transit through Athens to get to Santorini at that time of year. Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air are the two Greek airlines that serve Santorini and the other Greek islands. Olympic Air, Aegean Airlines and Turkish Airlines fly from Istanbul to Athens.
