Electra Palace Athens

Staying one night in Athens after a cruise and I want to be near the sights, but far enough away not to be bothered by demonstrations or riots in the Syntagma Square area. Based on the action in the last few months, is the Electra Palace location likely to be free of trouble? Thanks.

Yes. The Syntagma Square Metro Station will still be the closest station to that hotel, but if there is a problem out in the square itself (the station is underground) you can transfer to the Red Line Metro to the Akropoli Station and walk back to the hotel in safety. But chances are very good that the crowd gathered at Syntagma will be peaceful. They usually are. http://www.tinyurl.com/4487srb If you want easier access to your hotel from a Metro Station focus your search for those hotels near the Monastiraki Station and you can get there easily from Piraeus. Look at the Attalos Hotel, Cecil Hotel, Metropolis Hotel, Amazon Hotel, Pella Inn, Plaka Hotel and Magna Grecia Hotel.

Electra Palace is one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. It is in relatively quiet street. I don't think you should encounter any trouble.
