Hi Jeff! For dinner we highly recommend the Pri Planincu, good hearty meals, big portions and great prices. Downstairs for normal menu and upstairs is the Pizzeria. http://www.pri-planincu.com/ENG/pubENG.html Other choices the Vila Preseren, a little more fancier and pricier but still good value: http://www.villa-preseren.com/en-hotel-vila-preseren-bled-restaurant.html Or even the castle is great on a starry night http://www.blejski-grad.si/en/castle-restaurant For lunch we can also recommend the Pizzeria Rustika, great pizza http://www.pizzeria-rustika.com/ and for the sweet tooths, its a sin not to visit the Smon for cream cake. http://www.smon.si/ There's a few to get you started!

Ditto to Pri Planincu (excellent grilled calimari) and Smon for cream cake (best in town, I tried them all).

One more question... we will arrive from a very long west coast flight from LA to Ljubljana...will then transfer by taxi to Bled and arrive sometime in the afternoon around 4 completely jag lagged. We have just that afternoon plus the following day in Bled before we hit the road...What do you suggest would be our priorities for our time here? Should we just stay in Bled the following day and just recover or should we see the countryside? Is there that much to do in Bled to keep us busy for a full day?? Any suggestions are appreciated. Jeff

I was there about 6 years ago. We had one dinner in a restaurant (don't remember the name) and were not impressed. We then ate every other meal at the farmhouse/ B&B where we were staying, and it was amazing. It was very good food, and felt more "authentic" to us. this is where we stayed:

Hi again! If you are like me, you'll need a few days to overcome jet lag and will probably like a nice long sleep! :) Having said that, on arrival probably just take a leisurely stroll along the lake and just take it all in. have a light dinner somewhere and get some sleep.
Bled has enough to do for a day, the castle, pletna, walking, and even Vintgar Gorge if you have time. That should be enough, dont overdo it! Greg
