easy tours for Turkey and Greece that have trouble walking

My husand and I are cruising in April through Istanbul. Ephesus, Athens, Mykonos and Naples and he wears a brace on one leg. Are there tours for people with this kind of disability? He can walk short distances but tires easy.

Couple of approaches. The ship tours are designed to handle a wide range of passengers, most are bus oriented, and, of course, the ship personnel can tell you exact what the physical requirements are. Second, we have frequently hired a taxi driver for a half day or more and let him take you to places that met your needs. Unfortunately, those ports will require a lot of walking to see the main attractions especially Ephesus.

Thanks Frank....I think we decided to do just what you said....Larry walks ok but I think he would tire if we were on 7-9 hour tours. We signed up with others and when I mentioned Larry wore a brace they recommended a special needs tour for us...I guess they didn't want us to slow them down and I truly understood. We are better off going it alone I think. We'll just pick 2 or 3 things to see and call it a day!! We are celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary so heading back to the ship is ok too....Thankks for answering!!! Sharon

What he said, and to add that you can also book private shore excursions for just the two of you, which use private cars. You tell them by email what you want to see- they can make suggestions. DO tell them you have some limited mobility. The companies always suggest a full day of touring, but if you get tired before you see everything, you can tell them to head back to the ship. We had nice cars in 2 of those cities, but in Istanbul the big sites are all on top of a hill. There are places to sit; our guide noticed when I was lagging and pause while he gave us more info. Ephesus is huge but really amazing- the Terrace Houses had the least amount of space to sit and look and the stairs down from it were rough. Sometimes it is easier to keep moving than stand and look.
Prices are usually a little less than the ship, but you also usually want to tip them. Have fun- it's an interesting area of the world!

Thanks Melissa, you wouldn't happen to remember any of those compainies names for tours do you? I know that some of the other cruisers even got them to accept dollars instead of euros. But that was for 8-10 people.

Sent you a PM. On some of our shore excursions we traveled with people in wheelchairs- eveyone was very patient and it was fine. Hard to imagine your husband would delay anyone any more than that.
