Eastern Europe in February & March

We are planning to spend up to two months going through Eastern Europe in February & March(very cold I know!) Our itinerary startes in Berlin and ends in Constanta, Romania. Is it better to start North and end in the SOuth with nicer weather? Or start in the South, and work our way North? We have already done a fair bit of Winter travel...any suggestions on what to avoid and what not to miss?

You know what cold weather is, being from Calgary. You will want to maximize indoor things, minimize long periods outside. I don't think an Oregonian should give advice on cold weather to persons living in Calgary, a wonderful area.

At that time of year, you are unlikely to get particularly mild weather on any portion of the trip, so it shouldn't matter where you start. But compared to Calgary... you may actually find the weather warmer.
