Hi...my roommate and I are going to be in Dubrovnik the 26th-29th of July. We absolutely have to be there, as we fly out. I am trying to decide if it's necessary to prebook a place to stay (assuming it's holiday season?!?). I have contacted many sobes and b&b and only two places still have availability in Old Square. It's about 45 American dollars a person....can someone help me rationalize this?! I'm not sure what to do and the hostel booking company wants an answer asap. Once a reservation is made, it cannot be broken without losing the booking fee (expensive)! So, whatever we decide is what we stick with. We want to be close to downtown and they offer airport transportation for 30 euro. Any help would be appreciated as I don't know if accomodations are going to be easy to find or not!!! A bit desperate here, but they're putting us on a tight time restraint....thanks so much for your time!!!!

Just visited Dubrovnik and there were many people hawking their sobes. Think you need to decide if you feel more comfortable knowing you have a place ahead of time. Whatever you decide, make sure you have A/C as it was was extremely hot! We stayed in an apt for $50 euros a night on the water, however it was a 20 minute walk to old town, 10 min bus ride. The airport is 13 miles from the old town area. Cab ride was approx $50 US. There is a bus to the airport for $5 US that leaves from the main bus station 90 minutes before flights. Check with Atlas travel agency in old town for schedule day prior to flight.
