We are going to be in the Julian Alps for 4 days after which we plan to spend three days driving through the coast of Slovenia or maybe even the Northern part of Croatia. I know this is not a lot of time, but we want to make the best of it - hence any suggestions are welcome. Any cities we might stop on for our overnights (probably 2 cities)? Thank you very much.

If you mean drive on the Adriatic coast, Slovenia only has about 18 miles of Adriatic coastline, with Piran supposedly being the most scenic. Of the two countries, Croatia is the country with the long Adriatic coastline.

Slovenia has only a small coast line but whatever you do don't miss visiting Piran. Parking can be a problem but a shuttle bus runs non stop for free back and forth to the car park. Piran is also an ideal base to explore nearby towns like Izola and Portoroz.
