How long does it take for this drive? Is there somewhere we should spend the night in between? What's there to see?

Hi Chris, I can only help with one part of the question and that is length of the drive. According to ViaMichelin.com, it should take about 4 hours. I can't help with places of interest in-between, as we detoured to Mostar (Bosnia). However, it seems that a lot of people like to stop at an island or two (Korcula, Hvar, Brac, Vis, etc.), depending on the time of year.

You will go right through Ston which has a few things to see plus is a center for farming Oysters and Mussels, a good chance for a meal if you like shellfish.

4 hours is about right. and yes ston is worth a stop. walk the wall to the top of the hill for a good view of the area. i believe there are two route options as well. one closer to the coast with nice views.
