Well, I found the route in Michelin.com, but any idea is that road is a good road to drive in winter? I do not want to drive in the snow (I live in Texas and we don't know what snow is)

Just to give you a heads up, don't use Mapquest for european travel. I learned this lesson the hard way about a year ago. I would recommend that you spend the few dollars on road maps that you can purchase at any Autobahn rest area. The map legend is a great source of information. Hope this helps and enjoy your trip!

Hi Jaime, Almost every winter I go to Czech Rep with my Czech national husband & we do alot of driving there and all over Europe. November can be a crap shoot for weather conditions in central and eastern europe, but do count on it being colder the farther east or north you go. I've been there when it was too cold to snow & had to wear a scarf over my nose and mouth not to burn my lungs when I breath. I've also seen a few great, clear days in the low 50s. Black ice on the roads are commonplace. Snow too, but not in recent years. The days get shorter each day by about 2 minutes, so plan on only 8 hrs of daytime. If you are driving from Salzburg to Prague you probably will drive the route going near Cesky Krumlov. Unfortunately the castle is not open during that time or I would recommend you to break up the driving by staying there. Are you going to hit Vienna at all? Plan your route by visiting Vienna after Salzburg and then driving up to Prague from Vienna.

Sorry I ran out of room. The roads are much safer from Vienna to Prague. Superhighway all the way. Not the case for Salzburg to Prague. Some of the highways are only two lanes each way and through some mountains.

Anyway, the cold & short days don't detour my husband & I and shouldn't detour you either from going and having fun.
Just keep in mind that travel can take longer in winter because of road conditions & don't plan too much in one day. I wouldn't drive more than 4 hours in a given day.
Happy Travels!

One last thing. The roads from Vienna to Prague on the Czech side do go through some mountains but from my experience, better maintained.

Have you thought about taking the train? www.bahn.de shows that it will take about 7 - 7.5 hours. Which is longer than the driving time you mentioned. But you won't have to worry about road conditions.
