driving from Izmir to kayseri

In Sept. 2011 we took a week to drive from Antalya to Izmir, stopping from one to three days at towns along the way. Not sure if you're interested in other things in addition to beaches. Along with beaches we also saw many ruins and ancient churches and natural wonders making this a great driving trip for us. Driving from Antalya to Kayseri would probably take two days (we took the overnight bus for that part of our trip). Interesting towns we visited on our driving route: Selcuk (we spent three nights) to visit Ephesus and St. John Basilica among other sites; Pamukkale for the warm springs and ruins of Heirapolis; Patara, nice beach and ruins but would leave this one out if short of time as we thought Cirali had a much nicer beach; Cirali for the Chimera and the ruins of Olympos and the great beach; from Cirali to Antalya, Phaselis is a beautiful beach with ancient ruins, great for a short stop; Antalya has a good beach and is also a good starting point to visit Aspendos and Side. Also, between Patara and Cirali you could visit the rock cut tombs at Myra and the Basilica of St. Nicholas which are about 10 minutes apart. There is so much to see in Turkey, you may have a hard time deciding where to stay.
