We are think of driving from Dubrovnik to Durmitor National Park in Montenegro and then through Bosnia-Hercegovina to Plitvice National Park in Croatia in May. Does anyone know what the roads are like and how much time each leg of the drive might take? How scenic is the road through Bosnia-Hercegovina? Any other tips?

I can't speak for Bosnia-Hercegovina, but the roads from Dobrovnik, thru the Kotor Bay area of Montenegro, then up to Durmitor National Park are excellent. The road from Kotor Bay, thru Niksic, then up to Durmitor is referred to locally as the "new road", and at least half or more of it appears to be less than 2 years old, if that, and the remainder is more than adequate. We drove it this past September and I believe it was about 2.5 hours for that portion of the trip. I'd add at least another hour driving from Dobrovnik but depends on traffic at the border so could be more.
