We're starting to plan a trip to the western Balkans for next Fall. Planning on flying in to Ljubljana and leaving from Dubrovnik. Can't decide on driving down the coast or taking a more inland route, through Bosnia. From Plitivce, going toward Bihac, spending a night in Jajce, then to Sarajevo for a couple of nights, then visit Mostar on the way to Dubrovnik. Anybody done this route, any advice?

thanks for the reply. We may come down the coast. I figured we'd have enough time on the sea with Istria and around Dubrovinik, so why not go inland. But I don't have much info about the route, if it's even interesting.

I found a good description of the route on a trip adviser forum. As for car rental issues, I assume I'm going to have to shop around with rental agencies to find what I need. But I've seen enough posts with people talking about driving from Dubrovnik to Sarajevo to know it can be done.
