Drinking water in Turkey

I have been advised to drink only bottled water in Turkey. How about drinking tea in restaurants? Is the water boiled and therefore safe to drink?

hi,
you dont need to worry about water used for Tea ..
Since it is boiled and main reason to use not to prefer tab water because of it is hard in most of the places...
99% of Turkish people drinks the tea as the same way :)

thanks,Gokhan.. I will look forward to my Turkish tea relaxing in a sidewalk cafe! "Safe" is probably not the word I should have used. Millions of people are drinking your water safely. I am just concerned it is different and may not agree with me!

Our guide in Istanbul (and he was a native) told us
no one drinks the tap water in the city.

We were also told to keep our mouths closed when
showering and to use bottled water for teeth-brushing.

In other words, think Mexico!
