Dressing for Comfort in Aegean Sea Areas in July Heat

We will be touring Athens and the Aegean Sea islands in mid July. How should we plan to dress for daytime and evening to be comfortable? In addition, will sandals be good for safe comfortable footwear?

When I was there in July many years ago i lived in light weight cotton skirts. I got the best suntan of my life ever. My travel partner was very, very fair and she had to cover up. We laughed as even her covered up skin turned an odd yellow. It was very hot. But it was the best vacation. I don't remember needing a sweater in the evening, but I suspect we had something. The best thing we did on that trip was slow down. We worked on perfecting the art of cafe sitting when we weren't in museums, looking at ruins or at the beach. We averaged 6 cafe's a day. Breakfast, lunch, later afternoon refreshment, dinner, after-dinner. It was fantastic and I hope your trip is equally wonderful.

I like long (below knee) 100% cotton skirts and dresses for comfort. Capri pants are good, too.
Another advantage to dresses is that you can wear a money belt & never worry about pickpockets reaching it.

Sandals are never safe footwear if you're doing a lot of walking over rough cobblestones, or something like the Acropolis.
You do not want to risk rupturing a tendon or breaking an ankle.
Lots of comfortable footwear with ankle support out there.
