Do you have favorite Place to Stay in Santorini?

Any recommendations would be great, I've checked several of the tops ones on Tripadvisor. Can you recommend one you especially liked? We're going in Aug, it'll be hot. Should we have pool or not to worry about it.Something under $200 daily would be okay, since I know this i a special place. Thanks

This year you might even be able to get discounts because of the drop in tourism expected. Write and tell them you love their hotel, that you want to stay there but is it possible to get a room for 10% less than the asking price (specify the room and the price quoted on the website). All they can do is say no. In Oia check Caldera Villas, Strogili Houses, Rimida Villas, Filotera Villas, Nostos Apartments, Aspa Villas, Olympic Villas, La Perla Villas, Golden Sunset Villas and Kima Villas. A pool is definitely desired in August!

You might possibly be able to save more money by finding a room in a hotel without a pool, and just use the pool at the Lioyerma Cafe/Pool, a new business in Oia.

Lee, Aris Caves was not on your list. Do you recommend them at all? Seem to have great feedback.
Thanks,

Helene, that's because I only listed those hotels with pools this time since you're planning to go in August. Yes, I often do recommend them.

Kafieris apartments in Firostefani (walking distance to Fira) have airconditioning, swimming pool, absolutely gorgeous view of the Caldera. Phone: 30 22860 24186.

We have only been to Santorini once and we stayed at the Santorini Palace, in Fira, which we found truly beautiful. I just checked their website and was surprised to see how affordable it still is, with a 10% discount for booking on the web. Our room had a caldera view, and a short walk from the entrance to the hotel is a good viewing spot for the breathtaking sunsets.

We stayed in Kamari on the east side of the island...we didn't have the fantastic views, but we didn't have the crowds and the high prices either. We stayed at the Hotel Aqua Vatos which is only 200 yards from the pebble beach...they have a nice pool (check out the pictures in TripAdvisor) and they are one of the higher rated hotels in Kamari, but still very inexpensive (about $100/day for a double). The breakfasts were great...my wife is still raving about them to our Greek neighbors. The best feature of the hotel is the owners...both George and Alina go out of their way every day to make sure their guests are enjoying themselves. They went above and beyond the call of duty in getting our lost luggage back from Olympic Air...trip from Tel Aviv to Athens then on to Santorini...we made it but our two bags didn't...George took charge of all calls with Olympic Air and before noon the next day we had our luggage. We rented a topless jeep for a day and we explored the island top to bottom spending lots of time in both Fira and Oia...loved the gorgeous sunset...then returned back to Kamari for a wonderful dinner at a local Taverna, with lots of locals. Of course, Kamari is a tourist town as most other greek island coast towns are, but there are few Americans in Kamari...more Europeans and Brits...we had lots of fun meeting new friends from the other side of the pond.
